How much does a custom leather interior cost?

It depends on the vehicle, the material and how many seats are involved. A leather kit installed usually runs well under what a dealer charges for factory leather seats. Bring the vehicle by or send photos and we will quote it free.

How long will my vehicle be in the shop?

Most seat covers and headliners are a one to two day job. Full custom interiors and convertible tops usually run three to five days. We schedule the bay before you drop off so the vehicle is being worked on, not parked out back waiting on material.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer 100 to 180 days same as cash financing through Synchrony. Apply online in a few minutes and we can start once you are approved.

Do you really carry exotic hides?

We stock crocodile, alligator, stingray and ostrich, all with CITES serial numbers so the sourcing is documented and legal. We also carry leather, vinyl, suede and simulated embossed exotic hides.

Will a leather kit look factory or aftermarket?

Katzkin kits are cut for your exact year, make and model and we install them on your original foam and frames. Seams, stitch lines and airbag tabs match the factory pattern unless you ask us to change the design.

Do you do more than upholstery?

Yes. Window tint, custom LED lighting kits, stereo installation, dashboards, door panels, custom center consoles and steering wheel wraps all happen in house.

How dark can I legally tint my windows in Kentucky?

Kentucky allows 35 percent on front side windows and 18 percent on rear side and back glass, with a non reflective strip across the top of the windshield. We install to the legal limit and walk you through the options first.

Can you repair just one seat or one tear?

Often, yes. Bolster wear, a split seam or a torn panel can usually be repaired without redoing the whole interior. Send a photo and we will tell you honestly which way is the better value.

Do I need an appointment for an estimate?

Estimates are walk in friendly at 1032 East New Circle Road. Calling ahead just means somebody is at the counter waiting for you instead of out in the bay.

Interior rebuilt with new upholstery at Ride City Customs

Stripped to the frames, new foam where the bolsters had collapsed, then covered and stitched back to a tighter fit than it left the factory with.

Pan stripped, foam reshaped for a longer ride, then wrapped and stitched. This is the work that gets people stopped in parking lots.

Every panel is cut and sewn on our own table, which is why the seams land where they should instead of wandering across the middle of a cushion.

The shop

Second oldest upholstery shop in Lexington.

That is not a marketing line, it is a stability line. Shops come and go on New Circle. We have been sewing here since a 1,000 square foot garage in 2009.

2004

Learned on furniture

Started in furniture upholstery under his father, who already had 25 years on the machine. That is where the eye for detail came from.

2007

Moved to automotive

Switched from couches to cabins and spent three years sharpening the craft on cars, trucks and bikes before going out alone.

2009

Ride City opens

February 2009, a 1,000 square foot garage and one sewing machine. Today it is a full shop on East New Circle with an A plus BBB rating.
